Somehow, I've lived in Utah for a total of . . . oh, 14 years or so, and have never been to St. George. Except as a gas stop on some drive or another. So we decided to take the kids and head down for Spring Break. It was a good, good choice. We drove right to Pioneer Park and started climbing. And except for Zach's constant panic that the children were going to fall off a rock and die (I'm not kidding), we had a blast.

There were a ton of places to crawl through and climb on. The kids were sick of my picture taking very quickly.
Lucy and Eli:
To prove I was there:
With St. George and the Temple in the background:
Very Nice Guy offered to take a picture of all of us:
Zach was thrilled to be there:
Lucy wanted to take a few pictures:
We found a fort scout cave! (As in, the Very Nice Guy who took our family picture told us to keep walking through some narrows until we got to this fort cave.) It was pretty cool: (It makes much more sense as a scout cave than it does as a fort, because it would have made a terrible lookout, but an awesome hideout!)
Hiking back to the car:
We took the kids to Chuck-a-Rama for dinner (despite my long standing belief that no restaurant should have any part of the word "upchuck" in it). We instantly became the best parents in the world. Dinner out? Where you can eat as much as you want? And as many treats as you can? Yes, please! After we checked into the hotel, Zach took the older kids swimming while I tried to get Eli down to sleep for the night. Which didn't work. The 4 olders finally had to fall asleep with Eli's screaming in the background. He finally wound down at about 11ish. I forgot how stinky of travelers 1 year olds are. All-in-all, a big success. We love St. George and respectfully request that someone we know and love buy a condo or house there. Thanks so much.

Crazy we were there too. That's where I grew up, just a couple blocks south of the temple. Love that place.
Oh and it's not a fort. It's the old scout cave.:) Scout's built it a very long time ago.
Um, I would love to buy a condo there. I'll work on that.
I have lived in Utah for going on 20 years (minus a year long stint in Okie-ville) and have never been to St. George for anything other than gas. Wait! I take that back. I remember going to a Thespian convention there in HS, but we never left Dixie Campus so I don't know if it counts.... Looks like you had tons of fun. I'll have to add it to my list of must sees.
