Adam

Time to go home! As you can tell, he was THRILLED with my display of affection.
He fits better in his car seat than any of our other kids have.

Our little Yoda. I thought the resemblance was uncanny with his little ear sticking out.

Adam with Gma Tina.

Me and Mom right before she left to go home. Thanks for coming to help, Mom! We miss you already.

Adam in one of his (rare) wide awake moments.

Lucy loves her little brother. Can you tell?

He's heeeeeeeeeeere!

I went to the doctor for a checkup yesterday and my blood pressure was back up, so he decided it was time to deliver. He called the hospital and told them I was coming. I stopped at Zach's office to let him know it was time and after an HOUR! we left for the hospital. Becca came to get Isaac for us--Lucy and Kye were both at school. Anyhoo-checked in at 11:45, started pitocin at 12:45. Doctor broke my water at 1:30, got the epidural at 1:45 (THANK GOODNESS!) At 2:15, I told Zach to get a nurse because I was feeling some major pressure, and sure enough, the baby had decided it was time. They ran to call the doctor, called the resident in case he didn't make it in time. Doctor came running in at 2:35, and after 2 pushes, our baby was born at 2:40 p.m. A short labor and delivery seems to be the way to go--I'm feeling good, enjoying the peace and quiet of recovery at the hospital. The kids came to visit this afternoon, and after cookies and crackers all over the floor, a spilled water, a spilled grape juice, & Zach at his wits end, the family headed back home. The baby is 6 lb. 1 oz. (our biggest so far!), and 17 inches long. He has the Bradshaw nose and my chin. He is the first of ours NOT to have a little dimple in his chin at birth. We're pretty sure his name is ADAM DELWYN BRADSHAW. I was hoping he would come out with a nametag, but wouldn't you know he just didn't. Anyway, his face is popping back out after the trauma of delivery and all is well.
About 10 days before the baby was born.
Our family: Zach, Sarah, Lucy, Kye, Isaac and Adam.

Proud papa!
The whole experience was unbelievably fast and thrilling!

Laugh for the Day

Did you know a good laugh lowers your blood pressure? I was reading the Reader's Digest at my dr's office and came across a good one-liner I thought I'd share (which, incidentally, DID lower my blood pressure and gave me more freedom in my "taking it easy" phase.) Anyhoo, enjoy:

What a smart, smart man.

Update

I had a dr's appt today and my blood pressure was great! I told him I felt like we had a growth spurt this week because the baby was starting to feel so heavy. So after measuring my tummy, the dr. had a good laugh b/c I'm shrinking instead of growing. I'm now measuring 32 (should be around 35 or 36) and my amniotic fluid is (surprise, surprise) low! Baby's head (no . . . he STILL doesn't have a name) is huge though--it's measuring at 36 weeks 4 days. Looks like we have another Kye on our hands (do you REMEMBER the size of his head as a baby?) Anyway, as long as my blood pressure stays okay, I'll head back in 1 week to remeasure and assess. We'll let you all know what's going on.

Some Pictures . . .

I had intended to post these with our top ten, but just didn't get around to it.
Lucy on her first day of school
Kye on his first day of preschool.
Isaac on the potty. He said, "Mom, I'n just so tired!" and plopped his head down on the toilet seat. Germ-ridden? Yes. Disgusting? Yes. Funny? YES!
The kids: Lucy, Kye and Isaac.
Isaac found this wig and loved it! He wore it all night long.

I'm FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

After a weekend of bedrest, good blood pressure and very few contractions, I was allowed to upgrade from "bedrest" to "taking it easy." As long as my blood pressure stays good, I'm allowed to do things. I consider this a major blessing and feel so thankful that I can take care of the kids, etc. I have medication on hand in case I start contracting again--and just have to wait another week until I don't have to worry about it all. After 36 weeks, the baby can come and all is well. Now watch him wait until 39 or 40 weeks to be ready. At least then we'd probably be done with the basement.

Top Ten—August 2007

Top Ten things heard, said, done, or otherwise noticed in the Bradshaw household.

10-Isaac has learned to pray . . . sort of. He doesn’t want to repeat it from us—he wants to say it himself. So nobody can understand him, or even hear him half the time. He likes to whisper his prayers, until we tell him to speak up, then he starts shouting at the top of his lungs. We’re working on achieving a happy medium.

9-Kye: “Mom, THANK YOU for letting me go potty!” Of course, I had to stop on the side of the interstate approximately 2.5 miles from our house to let him out to pee. He just couldn’t hold it any longer.

8--Lucy starting 1st grade. It seemed to be a bigger adjustment this year than it did last. Those first few days she was just dragging after she got home. Well, dragging and teasing the boys mercilessly. But things have improved: now she gets home, eats a snack while reading a book, then does homework, practices piano and begs to play with a friend. It’s nice when they are actually excited to do their assignments.

7--Goldie, Lucy’s spazzy goldfish, is still alive. SHE’S ALIVE! I know! Can you believe it? Of course, I always have to feed her after Lucy forgets . . . every morning and night. In fact, I believe she should be my fish and I want to rename her Spaz. (You have SERIOUSLY never seen a goldfish this crazy. I promise.)

6—Discovering the joy of online shopping. Since all of my sisters and I have had baby boys in the spring, I have no baby clothes for this child. So I’ve been shopping online and found, well, nothing. Okay, okay, I still hate it. I hate shopping. The only benefit is not having to actually take the kids inside a store, where (as Lucy informed me after a trip to Lowes), I just sit and stare at all of the choices and NEVER MAKE UP MY MIND!

5—Kye is definitely at that funny age—when he’s trying to figure things out and just says the funniest things. Example:
K: (after our scripture reading) Mom, what does wicked mean?
Me: Well, it means to intentionally choose not to obey Heavenly Father and Jesus, etc. etc.
K: (after some thought) You know Mr. Bloomsbury? YOU KNOW! From Curious George? Well his son was sooooooooooooo wicked.
Me: Ummm, okay.

4--Zach’s trip to Juneau, AK, for work. He actually got out of his hotel room and DID something! It’s a miracle. He said it was beautiful there, and he spent some time bear watching. He saw a mother and two cubs. We even have the pictures to prove it. (Which I’ll add sometimeJ)

3—Kye’s inexcusable lack of correct vocabulary when it comes to sports. The other day, he and his friend James were outside playing “basketshoot” in James’s driveway. “Look, mom!” he said. “I’m getting a hole in one! Darn it! I guess I’ll have to get a hole in two.” Zach should be appalled . . . APPALLED, I tell you.

2--Going into labor (sort of) 6 weeks early. Enough contractions to scare the peewickens out of my doctor. So I’m still on bed rest—at least until tomorrow when I am going to ask him to upgrade me from bed rest to “taking it easy.” I’ll keep you posted.

1—Seeing my amazing, amazing hubby juggle it all now that I’m down. The man spent the weekend taking care of the kids, making meals (even Sunday dinner for us, McKay & Julie, Clark & Holly, and Kim!), cleaning, vacuuming, doing dishes, AND caulking all of our trim in the basement, building window boxes and cleaning out the entire garage. Hmmmmm, maybe I SHOULDN’T ask for an upgrade from bed rest. p.s. He even survived taking the kids to sacrament meeting on his own.
