I've been looking at amazing pictures on other blogs long enough to realize that my little point and shoot cameras just aren't cutting it. Those fancy new fangled cameras make anything look good. (Ahem, Zach. You can consider this a hint. And my birthday is only 6 months away . . . ). ANYHOOSERS, Kye won the class spelling bee a few weeks ago. So they gave him a spelling list to study for a month before the school spelling bee (3rd-8th grade class winners) . . . which we both forgot about . . . until 2 days before the bee. But that is neither here nor there.

Kooski's winning smile:
Seriously, wouldn't this be an awesome shot if it were in focus?
Trying to steady the pre-bee nerves. (He kept taking deep breaths and letting them out while he moved his hands up and down. He got that from me, thank you very much.)
I saw a lot of smiling and even a few fist pumps. You know, like when he made it through the first round. And then the second, third, and fourth . . . and every time another kid got out. Working on good sportsmanship over here.
I was sitting in front of a 6th grade class during the first few rounds. When Kye spelled his first word correctly, he looked over at me, his mouth split into a huge grin and he sighed with relief. The girls behind me said, "Oh. Isn't that just so cute? He is just sooooo cute!" I couldn't agree more. He made it to round 5, where he got out on the word "midriff." He spelled it "midrift." Ah, well, there's always next year.
