Anxiously awaited. Long anticipated. (I vaguely remember using this intro before for one of these.)
10—M: When did that happen? Just the other day?
I: No. It was the day before the other day.
Ahhhh, yes. Crystal clear.
9—Scary, scary sounds that sent Adam running for cover with his hands over his ears: a tractor passing by, the vacuum, a copy machine, “O Holy Night” by Josh Groban.
8—Semi-successful choir concert attendance. It was successful in that we attended. “Semi” because neither Adam nor Isaac sat . . . at all . . . the entire time. And they didn’t listen to any of the songs. And they screamed in laughing terror every time I got close enough to snag one of them. Needless to say, we left as soon as L & K were done singing.
7—The seemingly-mandatory December crazies that hit the house every year: kids screaming and fighting and kicking and punching and whining enough to kill a person. Two words: we survived.
6—I: I-am-a-robot
M: Oh! I am the mom robot and I’m telling you it’s time for you to go in your room for quiet time.
I: But-I-am-a-robot-and-I-don’t-have-a-mom-or-a-dad-or-brothers-or-sisters.
M: Okay, you are a robot and I am a robot maker—your robot maker—and I’m telling you it’s quiet time.
I: Oh, man! (heading to his room)
5—L: I made a rule that you can only throw a snowball at someone’s face if it was an accident, not if it’s on purpose.
4—Christmas traditions abound: Light of Christ FHE with friends, BYU bookstore fun on Christmas Eve, reading a scripture and Christmas story almost every night in December, attending the ward Christmas party, ornaments, making and eating fudge and Christmas cookies, playing games and seeing the lights at Temple Square.
3— Surprise! Oh what fun it was to drive away from all the snow, hey! Thanks to my generous family, we were able to borrow a van and show up in AZ for the week after Christmas. We played lots of games, had picnics, stayed with several different family members, made lots of yummy food, went 4 wheeling, made some crafts and did a little shopping. My favorite, aside from seeing family, of course, was our Friday and Saturday of 70+ beautiful degrees. It was so nice we didn’t leave until mid afternoon on Saturday, and didn’t get home till 1 a.m. Soooooooo worth it.
2—Blown fuse=lots of fun chatting. Somehow we broke the radio for the drive home from AZ and had to fill our time with (*gasp*) conversation. We asked “what do you remember” questions, talked about a several items of interest, a few books, where we would like to live someday, etc. Eight hours into the trip, Zach suggested I try to get some rest. Concerned, I suggested we keep talking to keep him awake. “Ummmmmm,” he said, “It’s just that my head is KILLING me.” ‘Nough said. (I got a good couple hours sleep.)
1—Spending Christmas Eve celebrating with family and friends that we love. Spending Christmas Day together as a family, enjoying our gifts given and received, and our time remembering that as we celebrate the birth of a Babe, we are celebrating the Savior’s life and His mission on the Earth.
