I meant to post a follow up to Isaac and Weston's display of creative masculinity, but that whole Christmas thing kept me busy for a few days there.
Isaac and Weston play very well together. In fact, Rachel (Weston's mom) and I were saying JUST THE DAY BEFORE how pleasant it was they keep each other entertained and how much fun they have together. A few minutes after they went downstairs to play, Isaac starting crying and came to the bottom of the stairs. I stood at the top and asked what had happened. He cried as he came up the stairs, "My foot. Owwwww. Mom, don't go downstairs. Okay? I'll come up, okay? Don't go downstairs." He's not old enough yet to realize those words were the death knell of his fun. I paused to notice the 4 cuts he had on the bottom of one foot and then ran down to the family room. "!!!!!!!!!!!!" I thought. "What were you THINKING?" I asked. Isaac's bottom lip started quivering. Weston just repeated, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry? Sorry? I'm sorry? I'M SORRY!"
As the boys sat on the couch while I cleaned up the mess, two thoughts kept running through my head: (1) Thank GOODNESS they hadn't done it at Rachel's house. Her trees are so very beautiful and full of ornaments they would have been picking glass up out of the carpet for the rest of my lifetime. (Of course, later I found out that Rachel's ornaments are all shatterproof, so I needn't have worried.) (2) Man, that had to have been fun for them. I mean, doesn't it LOOK like it was fun? They didn't like getting in trouble, but I guarantee you they had the time of their lives while they did it.
In case you were wondering, they not only smashed the ornaments they could reach that hung on the tree, they threw their bats up into the tree to knock down the higher ornaments and they smashed them once they hit the ground. If nothing else, I'm proud to say that they are thorough children.

Can you hear me laughing out loud? Rob and I just got through reading your post and while I don't love it when my children, or child in this case, breaks things, I AM thankful when they are thorough....just not this time.
I started laughing to tears when Matt told me this story in the car today, so I just had to read it for myself. It makes me so excited to be having a little boy :)
