Have I Seen Any Good in the World Today?

Six weeks since the PTL issue and things are looking good.  In fact, I'm off medication, contractions are down, my sister is here helping me get ready for the baby, and chances are we might make it further than ever before.  While I was in the hospital and bedresting at home, we had the opportunity to see the wonderful goodness in those around us.  So many neighbors, friends, and family rallied around us and offered good thoughts and prayers on our behalf.  It is amazing to feel so much service directed our way.

  • Zach's mom came for 10 days to help us during my strict bedrest time: making meals, picking up and dropping off kids, running to the store, helping Zach with all household chores, dealing with incredibly whiney and sick children, teaching me how to knit, etc.
  • My parents calling often to check up on me and the baby.
  • Friends and neighbors bringing in meals to feed my family.
  • My sister doubling her food 2 nights per week to share with us so I didn't have to worry about dinners.
  • My sisters helping with kids, inviting them to play, watching my kids during dr's appts.
  • A bookclub friend bringing by a bright, cheerful magazine and fuzzy socks for my down time.
  • Some friends visiting from Logan and dropping off some delish pumpkin choco chip bread and more cute fuzzy socks.
  • Countless numbers of offers to help from neighbors.
  • A good friend bringing lunch, and chocolate chip cookies, and dropping by to visit.
  • Another good friend calling almost every day to see what she could do to help: stick in a load of laundry, make lunch for my kids, etc.
  • A neighbor that I don't know that well dropping by with delicious cookies and letting me know they had been thinking of me.
  • A friend whose kids go to the same school as mine volunteering to drive my kids home every day.
  • A friend helping me decide on a paint color and then painting the walls of our soon-to-be-nursery for the baby.
  • Getting extra food from the blue-and-gold banquet dropped off at our house--enough to feed us for a week.
  • My sister flying out from NJ for a week to help with the kids, the house, and getting ready for baby.
  • My niece preparing games for and putting on Isaac's Pokemon bday party for me.
  • Scotcheroos dropped off by a friend (which I inhaled).
  • Another friend bringing by cookies and homemade French bread.  (Ummm, yummmmm.)
  • Young men from our ward bringing the sacrament to me at home when I couldn't attend church.
  • Two friends hosting a pre-baby dinner at my favorite restaurant.
  • Zach: making food, bathing kids, dropping kids off, driving me to doctor's appointments, encouraging me to stay down, cleaning up, making meals, doing dishes, directing the kids in their jobs, reading to the kids, putting up finishing touches in the baby's room, going to work, panicking every time I started contracting, working on car issues, etc.  All things he helps with anyway, but this time it was mostly on his own.
There is good in the world all around just now.  I have seen it and been the recipient of it.  Thank you to all who have shown us such love and concern.  Your prayers have helped and your Christlike actions have changed our lives.
