In Which the Children Return to School

Just a few weeks before school started, our good friends and old neighbors, the Finlaysons, came to stay a night at our house.  The boys made an awesome city out of all the cardboard boxes I'd been saving in the garage all summer.  They even tried to make a marshmallow catapult, but it didn't go over so well.   It was wonderful to get to spend a little time with them before they headed back to California.

And then it was time for school.  All the kids:

Isaac (2nd grade), Lucy (6th grade), and Kye (4th grade):
All went well until the 2nd day of school, when they had a lock down drill and terrified the children by telling them possible reasons the school would have a lock down.  My kids have very vivid imaginations and it took a little while to calm down after that. Just a few days after school started, they moved Kye up to 6th grade math and he loves the challenge.  It's nice to have kids who love school.  I'm wondering how long it will last . . .
