"Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other's gold."
19 years ago, I made a friend in my Spanish 1 class. Brought together by the fact that we partnered up to practice phrases like "Donde esta el bano?" and "Que hora es?" and the extreme dislike Senora Carlson had for the two of us (seriously? us?), we became quick and fast friends. We started hanging out in the same group and eating lunch out on the lawn, discussing "Rye Bread" and "Cored Apples." We acted in plays together, kept carrot cake with cream cheese frosting in our locker to snack on between classes, skipped an occasional class, talked about life out on the fence post, jumped on the trampoline with Jen, hung out with my dear sister Katie, went to Taco Johns for meat and potato burritos and apple grandes, and discovered "olive juice." So many fun memories. Erin surprised me by coming to my wedding, and I knew whenever and wherever she got married, I'd be there. And even better, Katie flew out from NJ and I got to see my sister (who I usually only get to see once during the summer). It was a wonderful wedding. Thank you for letting us be there. And congrats to my beautiful friend, Erin and her lucky, lucky Stu.
