Flashback Friday

Nov. 9, 1989 . . . Do you remember what happened? Well, DO you?
I was attending an 8th grade assembly, in which we were learning about and discussing The Diary of Anne Frank. (Interestingly symbolic, don't you think?) One of the teachers came into the assembly and interrupted whatever was going on with, "The Berlin wall has fallen!" It was a very, VERY big deal, to those of you who are too young to remember the Cold War. I was born into the latter part of it, but I remember it. We spent the rest of the assembly asking questions about what it would mean, about the history of the wall, and how it would affect our lives. Where were you when you learned that the Wall had fallen?

oddly enough, I was IN my German foreign language class...ironic as well. the next day we watched news reel after news reel about it. Then, in the coming days, we watched the pink floyd, cindy lauper, music video concert at the WALL.

I remember that it was a direct answer to prayer the prophet had asked the members to offer!

I do remember where I was when they announced that. I was driving on I-15 from Provo to Sandy to visit my Aunt Candy. I thought to myself," I wonder if I will remember this." Thanks for helping to conjure up that memory.
